The Lion of Babylon Studio

The Lion of Babylon Studio of Arabic Dance was newly constructed, with its completion and inauguration in January, 1998.  The Studio includes 40 feet of mirrored walls and is bright, open and airy.  It is beautifully constructed with cathedral ceilings, skylights, French doors and walls painted a lovely shade of lavender. 

The Studio’s goal is to encourage students to maximize their fullest potential as a dancer.  We are determined to train and foster each student to become the highest caliber of Arabic bellydancer, employing gentle, enthusiastic and encouraging instruction.  Comprehensive instruction is offered for all levels of bellydancer, whether beginner, intermediate, advanced or professional.  Group classes as well as private instruction are available.  Previous dance experience is NOT required to join the Studio.  In addition to group and private classes,

The Lion of Babylon Studio provides many other opportunities to study the art of Arabic Dance.  Some examples of these programs include: The Studio’s dance troupe, Rakset Afrabia, which specializes in folkloric dances of the Arab World; Mini-Seminars featuring guest instructors from around the Midwest; Student shows, where all have the opportunity to perform for each other and their guests; Classes in costuming, including construction and alteration, and stage make-up.
